When personal guidance is useful
Personal sessions can be appropriate when timetable, privacy, prior experience, confidence or modification needs make a general batch unsuitable. A personal format does not turn yoga instruction into medical treatment.
Beginners
Learn pace, alignment cues and breath without pressure to follow a group.
Working professionals
Fit a repeatable practice around travel, shifts and screen-heavy days.
Condition-aware practice
Work within clinician advice and the instructor's documented scope.
Continuity
Keep records and use an approved substitute if the primary teacher is unavailable.
Instructor matching
NCCIH advises asking about an instructor's training and experience and notes that qualified guidance can reduce injury risk.1 Satv records qualifications, specialisations, availability and permitted practices before assignment. The Yoga Certification Board maintains distinct professional certification categories, which provides useful context when assessing teaching claims.2
First four steps
- Complete intake and identify clearance triggers.
